Cajaput essential oil is used to treat colds, headaches, and toothaches. It is very effective in fighting infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi, such as tetanus (bacteria), influenza (virus), and infectious diseases like cholera and typhoid fever.

Cajuput oil is very effective at killing and repelling insects. Its insecticidal properties are so strong that a diluted solution can be sprayed or vaporized with a vaporizer to keep mosquitoes, ants, and many other types of pests away from rooms. A diluted solution of cajuput oil can also be rubbed on the body to keep insects away.

Like eucalyptus oil, cajuput oil is also an excellent decongestant and expectorant. As a decongestant, it provides immediate relief from congestion in the nose, throat, and other respiratory organs, as well as from coughs, infections, and the resulting throat inflammation.

It is analgesic in nature, meaning it reduces the sensation of pain. It is effective when applied topically, such as to an infected tooth for a toothache or rubbed on the forehead for a headache. Only use in highly diluted solutions.
