Clary sage is helpful for those suffering from depression, stress, and insomnia. It has been used to help with women's issues such as painful periods, irregular menstruation, and during childbirth. During menopause, this oil is believed to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, palpitations, irritability, as well as headaches and dizziness. It has been used as an aphrodisiac. It is also good for digestion and the kidneys. Clary sage oil should be avoided when consuming alcohol, as it can increase intoxication. Use in small amounts, as a large dose can cause headaches.
